So perhaps my criticism here for you is not whether you could do it, but why you want to do it, and what it is that you're trying to find out.I am having buffering issue when playing videos from my SMB/NFS Share. If you really really think that speedtest is absolutely what you want, then there is a script that does speedtest and ping at the same time and is a better reflection of what the network behaves when it's busy here. For example, here is my ping report since the beginning of the year. It's even better if you could log the numbers in a standard format, for example, the collectd format, so you can draw it much faster with a collectd visualizer. A benchmark for a reliable connection is usually not the bandwidth but the latency. I think a ping test or a "is the website down" test is going to be more interesting and practical. So either way, I don't think many people would like to run that on a frequent basis. ![]() On the other hand, when the Pi doesn't saturate the bandwidth, a speedtest is going to saturate all of your bandwidth and make the internet unnecessarily slow. Plus many people in here might have a very fast connection that will saturate the Pi's USB bus which will make the test meaningless. I would be curious to know once when I sign up for my internet connection, but I am unsure if that's useful enough for me to warrant running it automatically frequently. I think you got the right implementation, but then the premise of doing a speedtest every once in a while is perhaps not a very popular one. You must be new here - if you're old here, you know all the feedbacks are destructive and hostile. Geez, I wonder why no one has commented yet. The best thing?
